On Aug. 7, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of approximately 2,900 smart watches manufactured by Deale International and sold by HSN. The reason being that the watch’s wireless charging pad can overheat and ignite. Ultimately this poses a risk of both serious burn injury as well as a fire hazard.
As of now, the recall only applies to one specific model of the Altafit smartwatch, which doesn’t include the version being sold on HSN currently. Here’s what to know.

Specifically involved in this recall are the Altafit af28 smartwatches that were sold at HSN from March 2025 through May 2025, and retailed for roughly $50.
What does the recalled Atltafit watch look like?
As you can see above, the smartwatch was sold in gold and silver tones, featuring a 1.68-inch color touch screen. It came with two bands—a bejeweled option and a mesh design. It would have arrived packaged in a golden case along with a wireless charging pad and cable. You’ll see the following on the back of the watch if yours is one of the 2,900 affected: ALTAFIT FCC ID 2BHG8-AF28.

Here’s what to do if you own one of the recalled Altafit smartwatches.
For starters, the CPCS recommends immediately unplugging the smartwatch’s charging pad and cease charging the watch. Next, contact Deale International for specific instructions on how to receive a free replacement. You’ll first be asked to cut the unplugged charging pad’s power cable, then told to email a photo of the charging pad with cut cable to [email protected].
How serious is this recall?
Pretty serious. According to CPSC, Deale International has received 39 reports of smartwatches melting, burning and catching on fire while charging. Six of these reports included injuries like burns to hands as well as property damage.

Isn’t HSN selling an Altafit smartwatch right now?
HSN is currently selling an Altafit smartwatch however it is not the model involved in the recall. The model you’ll find online at HSN.com right now is the AltaFit AF25 Smartwatch, which has not been recalled and there are no injury or fire hazard reports for that version.
