One of Toronto’s most beloved pop-up markets returns with its biggest concept yet. The Welcome Market is kicking off Asian Heritage Month with its largest Asian-owned market ever this May, and it’s not at its usual location. Here’s what to know.
For one day only, The Welcome Market will take over Mel Lastman Square on May 10. The team behind the pop-up has partnered up with Toronto City Councillor Lily Cheng and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto to bring life to its largest event to date.
This day of celebration brings over 65 Asian-owned small businesses together under one roof.
What to expect
Kicking off at 11 a.m., The Welcome Market will host vendors offering handmade goods, food, art, wellness, and more.
As you browse the selection of goodies, treat yourself to delicious eats. There will be numerous food stalls and product samples from beloved Asian brands.
There will also be live on-stage performances throughout the day. Expect local Asian talent such as Elyssa Plaza and RPM SeaGalz, to grace the stage.

“With support from anchor vendors like Rurubaked and sponsors including T&T Supermarket and Sukoshi Mart, the event is expected to draw over 15,000 attendees,” shares organizers.
It all takes place at 5100 Yonge St., from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It’s free to attend, so if you’re looking for something fun to do next weekend, this sounds like the perfect day in the city.
