Premier Inn has opened an 84-room hotel in Hastings Town Centre, converting a former car park into the new facility.
Premier Inn has inaugurated a new hotel in Hastings Town Centre, located on Cornwallis Street, marking its latest expansion on the south coast of England. The 84-room hotel, which includes both standard and ‘Premier Plus’ rooms, is part of Whitbread plc’s strategy to strengthen its presence in areas with strong local economies and seasonal leisure demand.
The hotel occupies a 3,000-square-meter site that was previously an underutilised car park. Construction of the ground-plus-four-storey building was completed in fifteen months. The new hotel also features a ground-floor restaurant called The Social.
This opening increases Premier Inn’s network in Hastings to two hotels. A team of 25 employees has been recruited to operate the new location. The hotel aims to attract both local and visiting guests, contributing to the local economy.
The official opening was attended by Helena Dollimore, Labour (Co-op) MP for Hastings and Rye, who joined the hotel team and Whitbread stakeholders for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In addition to the Hastings Town Centre location, Premier Inn plans to open another hotel on Bognor Regis Seafront in the spring of the following year. The company has also begun site preparation for a new 130-bedroom hotel in Littlehampton Town Centre and is seeking a suitable location for a future hotel in Rye.
Before the opening, the new hotel team engaged in community activities, including volunteering at St Michael’s Hospice Donation Centre and conducting a beach clean-up. Whitbread also distributed a £9,000 ‘Force for Good’ fund among three local charities, namely ‘Expanding Limited Horizons,’ ‘Counselling Plus Community,’ and the ‘Hastings Community Info Hub.’
Premier Inn operates approximately 850 hotels across the UK and Ireland, with a focus on expanding its network in regions with robust economic conditions and high tourism potential.
