Whitbread PLC has received approval to construct a 157-room Premier Inn hotel in Sandyford Business Park, Outer Dublin.

Whitbread PLC, owner of Premier Inn, has secured planning permission to build a new hotel in Sandyford Business Park, Outer Dublin. The hotel will be located at 5 Arkle Road and will feature between five and eight storeys. This development is part of Whitbread’s strategy to expand Premier Inn’s presence in Ireland, where the company aims to establish 5,000 hotel rooms.

Whitbread acquired the site for the new hotel in December 2023. The company has been expanding its network of Premier Inn hotels in Dublin since opening its first location in the city center in November 2021. Currently, Whitbread operates five Premier Inn hotels in Dublin, including a large facility near Dublin Airport. The company also opened its first hotel outside the capital in Cork City Centre in 2024.

Whitbread plans further expansion in Ireland, targeting 11 locations with strong leisure and business markets. These locations include Killarney, Kilkenny, Kinsale, Sligo, Westport, Tralee, Galway, Limerick, Waterford, and Wexford.

The current occupant of the Arkle Road site, The Wall Climbing Gym, has secured a new location within the business park. Whitbread is coordinating with the tenant to maintain operations until demolition and construction commence in early 2026.
