Prince William has spoken out in support of his wife, Kate Middleton, after the Princess of Wales completed chemotherapy treatment for cancer in September.
While speaking with British reporters in Cape Town, South Africa, a few hours before his Earthshot Prize award ceremony on Wednesday, Nov 6, the Prince of Wales gave an update on Kate’s condition.

“She’s doing really well thanks,” William said, according to People. “And hopefully, she is watching tonight. So cheering me on.”
“She’s been amazing this whole year. I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success,” the 42-year-old royal added.
Prince William’s update came on the heels of Middleton reportedly feeling well enough to return to the gym for workouts after completing her cancer treatment.

Since finishing chemo, the mom of three has made a number of public appearances and seems to be easing back into her public duties.
On Oct. 2, she met with a teen photographer battling cancer at Windsor Castle; days later, she joined William in Southport on Oct. 10 to show her support for the family and friends of the victims of the attack on July 29 when three little girls were killed and 10 other people were injured at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class.
The princess’ improved health comes as a relief for the royal family, which has seen Kate and King Charles III both battle cancer simultaneously. The 75-year-old monarch’s cancer diagnosis was announced first in early February after he underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate, though Buckingham Palace said his diagnosis was unrelated. So far, palace officials have not revealed which type of cancer the king is battling.
Kate also underwent what Kensington Palace described as a “planned abdominal surgery” in mid-January. Tests conducted after the surgery revealed that the princess also had cancer, though the type of cancer was not publicly revealed.

Kate shared her “huge shock” diagnosis with the public in a March 22 video statement, in which she revealed that she was undergoing a preventative chemotherapy treatment upon the recommendation of her medical team. Following weeks of swirling rumors about her health, Kate said that it had taken her time to explain her diagnosis to her three children. She also praised William for his ongoing support.
“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance,” Kate said in her March video message. “As is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you. It means so much to us both.”
