Quebec is giving parents over $120 per child next month — Here’s when you can expect it

17 June 20252 Mins Read

If you’re already receiving Quebec’s family allowance, you’re in for a nice surprise next month.

On July 2, eligible parents will automatically receive an extra $124 per child, thanks to a one-time payment from Retraite Québec called the Supplément pour l’achat de fournitures scolaires (School Supplies Supplement). The best part? You don’t need to do anything to get it.

The annual, non-taxable supplement is meant to help with back-to-school expenses like notebooks, pens, and all the supplies kids tend to misplace by October. It’s available to families already receiving Quebec’s Allocation famille and who have children aged 4 to 16 as of September 30, 2025.

The $124 supplement should appear in your account at the same time as the payment scheduled for July 2, regardless of your family income.

This is separate from the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), the federal monthly payment many families also receive. In June, the CCB can be as high as $650 per child, depending on your income.

Even if your child isn’t in school yet — say, they’re still in daycare — you’ll still qualify for the school supplies payment, as long as they’re within the eligible age range. For children with disabilities, the bonus can apply up to age 17.

In shared custody cases, the payment is split between both parents — $62 each — as long as the child spends 40% to 60% of their time with each parent. Again, no forms, no paperwork. Just make sure you’re signed up for direct deposit to get your payment quickly.

You can find more details on the Retraite Québec website.
