Ranma 1/2 season 2 trailer reveals premiere date, new characters, hype

22 June 20252 Mins Read

The latest trailer of Ranma ½ Season 2 not only confirms that the new season will premiere in October 2025, but also introduces new characters like Mousse and Ukyo Kuonji, who are joining the cast in the upcoming season of the show. Adapted by studio MAPPA and published by Netflix, the new season will also have characters who were central in the first season will return according to the trailer to make Ranma and Akane’s life even more complicated.

Studio MAPPA’s Ranma ½ is the newest adaptation of the manga of same name written by Rumiko Takahashi. In this romantic comedy anime, we follow Ranma Saotome, a teenage boy who, while training martial arts with his father in China, falls into a cursed spring. From that point on, whenever Ranma gets into contact with cold water, he becomes a girl. While trying to cope with this curse, Ranma discovers he is now engaged with Akane Tendo, the daughter of one of his father’s friends.

Ranma ½ season 2 was announced at the end of 2024, though few details were shared at the time about what we could expect from the new episodes. However, the new trailer shows that Ranma and Akane will need to face many adversaries while trying to understand their own feelings toward each other.

Among the new characters we have Mousse, a Chinese boy who comes from another country to challenge Ranma and win the heart of Shampoo, one of the girls who fight for Ranma’s love in the show. Another addition to the cast of love interests that are going to dispute for Ranma’s heart is Ukyo Kuonji, a childhood friend and opponent of Akane in this romantic dispute.

Based on the trailer for Ranma ½ season 2, Shampoo, Ryoga Hibiki, and Tatewaki Kuno are also back in some funny scenes with the main couple. We can also see that this new season promises flashy action sequences where Ranma’s martial skills will be tested in unusual scenarios, looking to deliver the same mix of action and comedy we saw in the first season.

You can watch the first season of Ranma 1/2 on Netflix.
