Reba McEntire turned 70 on March 28, and although she was on tour on her special day—performing in Uncasville, Conn.—her family organized a special surprise for the star that got the tears flowing.
In a video posted by Reba’s son Shelby Blackstock and his wife Marissa, the couple and Reba’s close friend Shane Tarleton traveled to Connecticut to celebrate the landmark birthday with Reba, with Marissa explaining, “She had NO idea we were coming!! 🤯💖.”

Marissa wrote more about the special experience, saying, “The absolute sweetest moment—who else would cry if they got a surprise like this?! 🥹🎶.” In the video, she narrated the journey as they arrived at the airport and traveled to the show, which took place at Mohegan Sun Arena, sharing highlights of the exciting show.
After the show, Shelby, Marissa and Tarleton waited in the country star’s dressing room with other crew members to surprise her. The singer happily walked into the room as everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to her before she noticed her son, daughter-in-law and friend there, immediately getting emotional.
