Rebel Wilson can add rock star to her resume.
The Bridesmaids star hit the stage on Friday at the Reading Festival for a surprise appearance during The Kooks‘ set to delight fans with a cover of Coolio‘s “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
Ahead of her appearance, The Kooks’ lead singer Luke Pritchard introduced Wilson, telling the audience, “We’d like to film a scene of a movie with you… so we’d like to welcome to the stage the incredible, the unbelievable, the hugely successful, famous, beautiful popstar, Tazzie Young… otherwise known as Rebel Wilson!”
As the Australian actress took the stage, she told the crowd, “What’s up Reading? I thought I should sing a classic Kooks song… Gangsta’s Paradise!”
Then, Wilson strutted back and forth across the festival stage while rapping the lyrics as Pritchard sang the hook and the rest of the band played behind them in the piano-heavy version of Coolio’s biggest hit.
At the end of the performance, Wilson popped open a bottle of champagne and sprayed the audience.
BBC shared a clip of Wilson’s rock star moment on TikTok, and she shared it on her Instagram page. Wilson’s wife, Ramona Agruma, was one of the first to comment, writing, “Who knew I married a rockstar/popstar/rapper ? 😁🥹😍❤️❤️❤️”

Rebel Wilson Really Can Sing
It’s no secret that Rebel Wilson can sing. After all, it was her real voice in the Pitch Perfect movies. She even sang “We Belong” with Adam Devine in Pitch Perfect 2.
Wilson also revealed on The Graham Norton Show in 2017 that she did have to sing for her Pitch Perfect audition. She claimed she was cast four months before anyone else, saying she sang Lady Gaga‘s “Edge of Glory” while doing her body percussion.
The 45-year-old actress then demonstrated how she auditioned by performing the song with body percussion for Graham Norton and his guests as the audience went wild.
Rebel Wilson Has Four New Projects on the Horizon
Rebel Wilson may or may not have been filming when she jumped on stage with The Kooks on Friday, but she certainly has been busy with several new projects.
Wilson stars in Tinsel Town, which is expected to be released in December 2025. Also in pre-production are Rocking the Boat, K-Pop: Lost in America, and Girl Group. In June 2025, Bride Hardwas released, keeping in the theme of wedding-themed comedies that Wilson is so obviously good at making.
