‘Resident Alien’ Season 4 Finally Sets Netflix Release, But Won’t Return for Season 5

We’ve got some bittersweet news for fans of the quirky sci-fi comedy Resident Alien. The good news? The fourth season of the Alan Tudyk-led series is officially heading to Netflix in the United States this June after a long period of waiting and no news. The bad news? In case you haven’t heard it’ll be the show’s final outing, as the series will not be returning for a fifth season.

Since making its Netflix debut, Resident Alien has been one of the biggest licensed success stories for the streamer. Created by Chris Sheridan and based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, the show follows Harry, an alien sent to wipe out humanity who crash-lands on Earth and must blend in as a small-town Colorado doctor.

If you’ve been tracking the show’s release schedule on Netflix US, you’ll know it’s been a steady rollout. Netflix first licensed the show in early 2024, which brought a massive wave of new fans to the series. According to Netflix Engagement Reports, the series picked up 403.2M viewing hours on Netflix in 2024 and 2025, equating to 45.8M views.

Here is the timeline of how Resident Alien has rolled out on Netflix US so far:

Now, we can confirm that Season 4 is coming to Netflix US in full on June 6th, 2026. This is much faster than we initially anticipated, with our initial prediction suggesting the show may not arrive until February 2027. Thankfully, we were way off!

Sadly, however, this drop comes with a heavy caveat. As previously reported, the series has officially been canceled, meaning Season 4 serves as the show’s final chapter. Despite its strong streaming performance—often dominating the Netflix Top 10s following a new season drop—the network, Syfy, ultimately decided not to move forward with Season 5. When you finish your binge on June 6th, that really will be the end of Harry’s journey.

What about Resident Alien on Netflix Internationally?

When Resident Alien first hit Netflix US, it was an exclusive regional license. Since then, the distribution has widened significantly, and the show is available in most regions around the globe. However, if you’re living outside of the United States, your binge-watching journey is lagging quite a bit behind.

Currently, all international regions are limited to just Seasons 1 and 2 (totaling 26 episodes).

Here’s a quick look at how the first two seasons have rolled out globally:

  • March 2024: Early adopters in Europe got the show first, including Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and Switzerland.
  • March 2025: A massive expansion hit exactly a year later, bringing the show to the United Kingdom, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, France, Mexico, Portugal, and Spain.
  • March – May 2026: Most recently, the show expanded into Australia, Canada, South Africa, India, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and numerous other regions across Eastern Europe and Asia.

Because international regions are still waiting on Season 3, it will likely be a very long time before Season 4 makes its way across the pond or borders. International licensing often requires waiting for existing pay-TV and local broadcasting deals to expire. If you’re in the UK, Canada, or Australia, you’ll want to keep a close eye on our monthly “What’s Coming to Netflix” previews for updates on when Season 3 will finally drop.

For now, US subscribers can mark their calendars for June 6th. Prepare your goodbyes, because Harry’s final mission is almost here.
