According to preliminary data from CoStar, in May 2025, Rio de Janeiro’s hotel industry saw substantial growth in key performance metrics. The occupancy rate increased by 4.4% year-over-year to 66.6%. The average daily rate rose by 24.9% to BRL 819.09, and revenue per available room grew by 30.5% to BRL 545.78.
This spike in hotel performance metrics coincided with a free concert by Lady Gaga at Copacabana Beach on May 3, 2025. On the day of the concert, the city’s hotels reached an occupancy rate of 82.5%, with an ADR of BRL 1,456.71 and a RevPAR of BRL 1,202.21. These figures represent peak values across all three key performance metrics. Notably, the occupancy rate did not exceed 80% on any other day in May.
From May 1 to May 4, surrounding the concert date, Rio de Janeiro’s ADR consistently stayed above the BRL 1,000 mark. Additionally, RevPAR exceeded BRL 1,000 on the night before the concert, highlighting the significant impact of the event on the local hotel industry.
