Rory McIlroy’s Net Worth in 2025 Makes Him One of the Wealthiest Golfers of All Time

16 May 20255 Mins Read

Rory McIlroy is one of golf’s greatest players, by par. We mean, by far! His explosive swing and calm focus under pressure are well-known. He has spent more than 100 weeks ranked as the world’s number one player. He’s won every major title in the game, including the U.S. Open, PGA Championship, and Open Championship. In April 2025 he won the Masters as well, making him only the sixth male golfer in history to achieve a Grand Slam—one of golf’s most elite accomplishments.

A Grand Slam in professional men’s golf refers to winning all four major championships at least once in a career: the Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship. Very few players in the history of the sport have managed it. McIlroy had already won the other three majors by 2014, but the Masters eluded him for over a decade—until 2025.

Let’s drive right in (dive, sorry!) and find out everything you need to know about Rory McElroy’s financial situation today including his net worth in 2025. (To putt a long story short: He’s doing well for himself!)

How did Rory McIlroy get his start?

Rory McIlroy was born in Holywood, Northern Ireland. His father, a solid amateur golfer, introduced him to the sport when he was still a toddler.  When he was just three, he was already hitting 40-yard drives, and he practiced by chipping balls into his family’s washing machine. When he was seven, he became the youngest ever member of his hometown Holywood Golf Club. So, it’s safe to say he started young—and he was good from the jump.

His parents worked multiple jobs to support his training, and McIlroy devoted himself fully to the sport. He even slept holding a golf club to perfect his grip! By age nine, he was already competing and winning in tournaments both at home and abroad.

When he was 18, McIlroy turned professional and signed with International Sports Management. McIlroy got his first professional victory on the European Tour in 2009, and by 2010 he had won the U.S. PGA Tour.

What is Rory McIlroy’s net worth in 2025?

Rory McIlroy’s success has made him one of the wealthiest athletes in the world. According to Celebrity Net Worth, his net worth is estimated to be around $250 million. A significant portion of that comes from tournament prize money, but the majority of his earnings come off the course. For more than a decade, McIlroy has had a long list of high-dollar sponsorships and business deals. Cha-ching!

How much did Rory McIlroy make for winning the 2025 Masters?

McIlroy earned $4.2 million for his 2025 Masters win. That single victory didn’t just earn him the Green Jacket—it pushed his PGA Tour career earnings past the $100 million mark, a milestone previously reached only by Tiger Woods. It was a historic moment that also marked the completion of his career Grand Slam.

How much does Rory McIlroy make per year?

Over the 2024 season, according to Forbes, McIlroy’s total earnings were around $83 million. This was enough to put him on Forbes’ list of the top 50 highest-paid athletes that year. And most of that money doesn’t even come from swinging a club. The lion’s share of his income comes from endorsement contracts. About $38 million came from his performance on the course, but an estimated $45 million was from endorsements and sponsorship deals.

How much does Rory McIlroy pay his caddy?

Most top golfers pay their caddies a base salary plus a percentage of winnings, and Rory McIlroy is no exception. Since 2017, McIlroy’s caddie has been Harry Diamond, a childhood friend. Reportedly, Diamond is paid around $3,000–$4,000 each week.

On top of that, Diamond earns a nice bonus based on how well McIlroy plays in a tournament: it’s standard for caddies to get about 10% of the victory winnings. For instance, when McIlroy won the Masters in 2025, he took home the $4.2 million first prize. Diamond’s bonus was 10%, meaning he earned $420,000 just from that one event.

McIlroy has credited Diamond for his role. After winning the Masters, McIlroy even said the victory was “just as much Harry’s as it is mine.”

What sponsorships and endorsement deals does Rory McIlroy have?

Rory McIlroy’s career makes him a marketable, reliable face, so it’s fitting he has no shortage of sponsorship deals. In 2013, he signed a massive ten-year contract with Nike that was reported to be for around $200 million. Nike extended their contract with McIlroy in 2017, and they continue to outfit him head-to-toe.

He also earned a $100 million deal from TaylorMade for using their clubs and balls. This ten-year deal means that McIlroy’s gear is exclusively TaylorMade (aside from his Nike apparel).

Since 2013, he’s also had an ongoing deal with Omega to wear their luxury watches and appear in ads for Omega. Altogether, these deals bring him tens of millions per year.
