Royal Family Bids Goodbye to 'Very Dear' Member After '14 Years of Noble Service'

3 August 20252 Mins Read

The Royal Family is bidding adieu to a longstanding member who was “very dear” to the late Queen Elizabeth after more than a decade of “noble service.”

Tyrone, a Ceremonial Carriage Horse that helped draw carriages toting King Charles, other members of his family and their guests, has officially completed his terms of service, as it were.

The Royal Family took to Instagram on Sunday, Aug. 3, to wish a happy retirement to the Windsor Grey, which they called a “gentle and dependable giant.”

Several slides shared a series of facts about and photos of Tyrone, with fans of the royals gushing about how much they “love to see more about your horses 😍❤️.”

Tyrone is leaving the Royal Mews—or stables—to join his father, Storm, and sister, Meg, who are already “enjoying their retirement under the wonderful care of The Horse Trust.”

“After 14 years of noble service with the Royal Mews, we are celebrating Tyrone and wishing him a happy retirement! 🥕🐴,” the caption of the carousel announced.

Followers sent their well-wishes to Tyrone, with one complimenting, “What a beautiful boy! Enjoy those green pastures Tyrone 🥰.”

“How lovely and a well deserved retirement might I add,” another applauded.

“That was such a lovely post!” someone else concluded. “Great to learn more about the horses 🐎🐎🐎 Happy retirement, Tyrone ❤️.”
