Sarah Ferguson’s Rep Denies the 'The Queen’s Corgis' Dog Cloning Rumors

24 March 20263 Mins Read

Sarah Ferguson’s rep dismissed speculation that the former Duchess of York had plans to clone Queen Elizabeth II’s famous corgis, Muick and Sandy.

“To be absolutely clear, she declined the proposal regarding a reality TV show involving the late Queen’s corgis,” a rep for Ferguson told People in a statement published on March 22. “She received the proposal following some initial conversations with Halcyon Media to discuss a potential program on dogs generally, but conversations ended following her declining the opportunity suggested.”

The rep added that Ferguson, 66, “regularly receives varied TV offers and proposals,” which she “always declines.”

Ferguson’s statement came after reports from Daily Mail claimed she was in talks to “sell genetic replicas” of the royal dogs through a company called “The Queen’s Corgis” in the proposed show.

“As the series unfolds, viewers will be taken on a journey through the fascinating world of genetics and cloning, as well as the inner workings of the royal family,” the reported synopsis read, per the outlet on March 21. “They will witness the highs and lows of Fergie’s business venture, and see how her determination and resilience are put to the test … But ultimately, they will be left with a sense of hope and wonder, as they witness the incredible bond between humans and animals, and the enduring legacy of the Queen’s beloved corgis.”

Ferguson, who is popularly known as Fergie, and her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, 66, adopted Muick (pronounced “Mick”) and Sandy after Elizabeth died in 2022 at the age of 96. Elizabeth owned over 30 corgis and dorgis, a crossbreed between a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and a Dachshund, throughout her life. Muick and Sandy attended the monarch’s funeral.

Ferguson, Andrew, and their daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, gifted Muick and another dog named Fergus, who died in 2021, to the late monarch in 2021 to cheer her up while Prince Philip was hospitalized amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The family then gave Sandy to Elizabeth later that year, to honor Philip’s 100th birthday, after he had died two months prior at the age of 99.

In 2023, Ferguson opened up about adopting the U.K.’s most famous pups.

“They are national icons, so every time they run chasing a squirrel, I panic,” she told People. “But they’re total joys, and I always think that when they bark at nothing, and there’s no squirrels in sight, I believe it’s because the Queen is passing by.”

She added, “They’re with me a lot, and they think I’m very funny.”

Ferguson frequently talks about the pride she feels in caring for Elizabeth’s prized pets. She gave an update about Muick and Sandy while paying tribute to the late monarch on the third anniversary of her death.

“Her Majesty will be forever loved, always missed, and never forgotten,” Ferguson wrote via Instagram. “Not a day goes by when I don’t think of the kindness I was unstintingly shown in good times and bad. Caring for Her Majesty’s beloved corgis is an honor and a daily reminder of the times we shared together.”
