If you missed the underrated ScourgeBringer in 2020, now’s your chance

Everybody eats with the Epic Games Store’s free games this week. The offerings include an easy-to-pick-up roguelike, a story-driven strategy game, and a team-based tactical shooter.

ScourgeBringer from Flying Oak Games, E-Studio, and Dear Villagers is a fast-paced roguelike action-platformer. You’ll play as Kyhra as she dukes it out with “ancient machines guarding the seal of her past,” according to the official game description. Its world is post-apocalyptic, and Kyhra might just be the one to save it and its people. Polygon enjoyed ScourgeBringer when it debuted in 2020, saying it “knows how to teach competency in efficient ways, while introducing new ideas and abilities with each run” in our review.

Songs of Silence blends turn-based strategy and real-time battles. You’ll “lead armies, rebuild fallen kingdoms, and rise to greatness” across its eight campaign maps. Randomized Skirmish maps offer replayability with free-for-all or co-op modes, and the game supports up to six players.

The last game on offer is a tactical shooter in the vein of Rainbow Six. Zero Hour features team-based, online, first-person shooting. Co-op missions can include squads of 10 players, or solo players can still enjoy the game with up to nine AI teammates. There are also five-on-five PvP modes to add a little competition to the action.

If any or all of the three games catch your eye, all you need to do is login to the Epic Games Store and claim them. They’ll be free until Thursday, Nov. 20 at 11 a.m. EST.
