'Severance' is Returning for Season 3: Everything to Know

21 March 20254 Mins Read

The Season 2 finale of Severance aired and left the characters of Lumon lingering on another cliffhanger. The stories of Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and the rest remain to be written, but viewers will be glad to know that Apple TV+ has renewed the show for a third season.

Severance follows the lives of individuals who have participated in the severance procedure. A person’s consciousness is split into their innie (work persona) and outie (personal persona). The show mainly follows Mark as he opts into the severance procedure to manage his grief after losing his wife Gemma (Dichen Lachman) in a car crash.

However, as Mark’s innie begins to question the strange rules and hidden motives of Lumon Industries, the company behind the severance procedure, cracks form in the carefully maintained illusion. With the arrival of a new employee, Helly, and the disappearance of a former colleague, Mark is drawn into a growing mystery that forces both his innie and outie to confront the unsettling truths about their divided lives — and what Lumon is trying to control.

Likely not for a few years. The gap between the first two seasons was nearly three years. Here’s hoping our outies won’t have to wait that much longer to dive into more Severance episodes!

Not yet! Check back closer to the premiere of Severance for a sneak peek at Season 3.

How to watch Severance Season 3?

Severance will be available to watch on Apple TV+.

Warning! The following section contains spoilers for Severance Season 2.

How did Severance Season 2 end?

In the Season 2 finale, Mark is finally reunited with Gemma. He helps her escape out of the severed floor but instead of leaving with her, his innie decides to stay behind with Helly. The innies seem to have control of the severed floor, having dispatched Mr. Drummond (Darri Ólafsson) and subdued Mr. Milchick (Tramell Tillman). There are many on the outisde who may be able to try take Lumon down, with Gemma, Ms. Cobel (Patricia Arquette) and Devon (Jen Tullock) all potentially out for revenge on the company.

Season 3 will likely explore this dramatic role reversal: with the Innies now holding the upper hand, the fight may come from both inside and outside the severed floor. Mark’s decision to stay behind signals a shift from survival to resistance, and with Helly at his side, they may finally be ready to dismantle Lumon from within. Meanwhile, the outside world—armed with knowledge and motive—could be preparing its own coordinated attack. The question now isn’t just whether the Innies can escape, but whether they can bring the whole system down.
