In a surprising shift for the Toronto dining scene, Paramount Fine Foods has officially taken over the ownership of Mademoiselle Raw Bar & Grill, located at 563 King St. W.
The changeover, which was confirmed to blogTO by a spokesperson for Mademoiselle, came alongside confirmation that Peter Girges and his team — the same group behind MARBL steakhouse — are no longer involved with the nightlife destination.
Known for its extensive selection of shawarmas, BBQ platters, and shish tawouk, Paramount Fine Foods, led by Lebanese-Canadian businessman and philanthropist Mohamad Fakih, operates over a dozen locations across the GTA.
Aside from being a fine-dining seafood restaurant, Mademoiselle also doubles as an upscale club, making it one of the busiest venues on King Street on any given weekend.
Helmed by Executive Chef Evan Dickinson (Vertical, Aria, Crush Wine Bar), the restaurant features an array of seafood starters, including crab cakes, grilled octopus, and lobster bisque, alongside mains like seafood towers, sushi rolls, sashimi, lobster spaghetti, and wild salmon.
While there is no official word yet on whether the menu or interior of Mademoiselle will undergo any changes, this management changeover is just the latest shift in Girges’ collection of venues.
Last year, staff announced that MARBL King West would be bidding farewell to the area and moving to the Financial District at 40 Temperance St. Its high-traffic space, located at 455 King St. W., was taken over by the upscale sports and dive bar, 100 Days, a restaurant and bar concept that existed and closed in the city 15 years ago.
Prior to its move, MARBL King West was at the centre of multiple controversies over the years. In 2020, the steakhouse received backlash after clips emerged of crowds drinking and socializing at the restaurant during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2024, the restaurant received more criticism after posting its dress code guidelines, which prohibited items like bathing suits, athletic wear, and men’s side bags.
