Simons announces long-awaited grand opening day at Toronto Eaton Centre

2 September 20252 Mins Read

Quebec-based department store Simons has officially expanded in Ontario, and it’s finally opening at the Toronto Eaton Centre.

Following a successful opening at Yorkdale Shopping Centre last month, the department store has now shared its official opening date for the downtown Toronto location.

Shop till you drop on Sept. 18, 2025, aka grand opening day!

Shoppers will be delighted to browse items across 112,000 square feet, spread out across three floors. This new street-level storefront has taken over the vacant spot left after Nordstrom made its sad exit more than two years ago.

With men’s and women’s clothing, footwear, and home furnishings available, Simons will also feature exclusive labels like Twik, Contemporaine, and Djab, plus top designers and even some beautiful Canadian art.

Not only will the clothes be something beautiful to look at, but so will the building, which features design by Lemay-Michaud Architecture and interior design by Toronto-based Gensler Design.

This is a win for the Canadian department store game, following the death of Hudson’s Bay Canada. Founded in Quebec City in 1840 by John Simons, it originally operated as a dry-foods store before expanding into the apparel section.

Now with 18 stores from coast to coast, this Eaton Centre flagship addition will be lucky #19.

The Yorkdale opening was a festive celebration, with a beautiful design providing a luxurious shopping experience, which means the Eaton Centre opening will totally follow suit.

Just in time for that back-to-school shopping season, check out the new Simons opening at the Toronto Eaton Centre on Thursday, Sept. 18.
