A beloved (but admittedly creepy) feature from The Sims 3 is finally making its way to The Sims 4, just in time for spooky season. The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits expansion pack will add Imaginary Friends (which are absolute nightmare fuel) to the game alongside other kid-friendly activities like archery, summer camp, and a new type of vacation called a Getaway.
The trailer shows off plenty of nifty new features, like kayaking, weight-lifting, playground-building, water slides, and actual diving boards (finally!). There are also three new Getaway lots: Camp Gibbi Gibbi, Revive & Thrive, and Love Highland. But as you can probably tell from the name of that last lot, the main attraction in this expansion pack is undoubtedly the new contest system, which allows players to hold reality show-esque contests among their Sims.
In Adventure Awaits, players can engage in romance elimination contests (à la Love Island and The Bachelor), cooking contests, archery competitions, and other activities that pit Sim against Sim and put Sims’ skills to the test. These competitions are baked into the Getaway system, which allows players to plan out a daily itinerary of events, add rules, or create recurring getaways that happen daily, weekly, or monthly.
In addition to the return of Imaginary Friends, Adventure Awaits is also introducing other child-Sim-friendly content to the game, like summer camp, where youngsters can go to learn skills like archery, kayaking, and swimming, meet other kid-Sims, and give their Sim-parents a bit of peace and quiet.
The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits expansion pack launches for Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on Oct. 2.
