The Toronto area is getting a major dose of food, culture and celebrity sports this month as ARC WORLD returns to Markham on Sept. 12, bringing a full day of Asian culture and programming to the city.
Organized by Asian Roots Collective, the festival will take over the Hilton Markham with a focus on food, entertainment, sports, and community.
The biggest draw is always ARC HOOPS, a celebrity basketball game co-organized by Canadian actor Simu Liu and NBA legend Jeremy Lin. The latest celebrity lineup has even more big names including Phil Wang of Wong Fu Productions, comedian and content creator Leenda Dong and Jason Y. Lee of Jubilee Media.
Proceeds from the game will support Asian Roots Collective’s youth initiatives and the Jeremy Lin Foundation.
Food is also a major part of the day, with ARC Eats pop-ups featuring Toronto-area favourites including Good Behaviour, GMNI and Pai. A market will add more shopping and browsing opportunities, with Oven Theory among the vendors and Toronto comic shop Heroes World celebrating its 25th anniversary at the festival.
While ARC WORLD takes place in Markham, the celebrity basketball game takes place at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre at 875 Morningside Ave.
