Singapore Still Has The World’s Most Powerful Passport, Canada Reviews

15 January 20262 Mins Read

It’s that time again, folks – the first quarterly Henley Passport Index of 2026 has landed, and compared to the report’s October index, there have been some notable shifts in the power ranking.

How are the passports ranked? Well, it’s based on how many countries passport holders can enter without a visa, and as was the case in July and October, Singapore has topped the chart. Holders of a Singaporean passport can enter 192 different states without a visa, which is comfortably ahead of any other country in the world.

In joint-second place are South Korea and Japan, each granting passport holders entry to 188 countries. This is a step up for Japan, which was in third place in the last index. Other changes are a three-place jump from Sweden from sixth to third (now sitting alongside Luxembourg, Denmark, Spain and Switzerland), and a minor improvement from the UK, which has gone from eighth to seventh place.

Oh, and despite slipping out of the top 10 in October’s ranking, the USA has clawed it back and now sits on its own in tenth place. Scroll on for the rest of the ranking.

These are the world’s most powerful passports right now

  1. Singapore
  2. Japan, South Korea
  3. Luxembourg, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden
  4. Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway

  7. Australia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, UK
  8. Canada, Iceland, Lithuania

The complete, 101-strong ranking is available on the Henley Passport Index website.
