Soda Company Announces Formulation Change Following Criticism

4 June 20252 Mins Read

Celebrity-favorite soda brand Poppi recently made a major announcement — and it’s not a new flavor!

The gut healthy prebiotic soda just revealed that they’re giving one of their least popular flavors a major overhaul, from its packaging to its taste…and fans of the brand couldn’t be more excited.

After years of criticism, Poppi shared that they’ve officially “leveled up” their Root Beer flavor based on feedback from customers and it’s already rolling out to shelves at supermarkets across the U.S.

“we heard you loud and clear 🗣️🗣️🗣️ you wanted us to level up our Root Beer, so that’s exactly what we did 😏😋,” the company wrote on their Instagram.

They continued, “allow us to reintroduce you to our brand ✨ new and improved ✨ Root Beer! we gave it a fresh new look and a bold new flavor and we can’t WAIT to hear what you think! 😍 if you’ve tried it yet, did we totally nail it or what??”

The company first announced the drink back in 2021 alongside their Classic Cola and Doc Pop flavors, but since then, it’s been an unpopular choice for most customers. In fact, it’s been the subject of negative posts on social media for so long that the brand recently poked fun at the some of the meanest comments.

“Poppi root beer tastes like A1 sauce and coins, disgusting,” a commenter wrote on X, while another added, “The Orange and Grape Poppi changed my life…the root beer one made me question everything.”

One social media post even compared the design of the old Root Beer can to a “Madagascar hissing cockroach.”

While some fans of the flavor were quick to comment that they were happy with the old formulation, most followers expressed their excitement to try out the new and improved taste.

“Props to y’all for taking feedback and nailing the new iteration 👏 So many brands can learn from you!” one commenter wrote. Another added, “The old root beer was not it, but this is 🔥🔥”

The new formulation follows Poppi’s signature simple ingredients, which typically features sparkling water, apple cider vinegar and organic cane sugar. The updated Root Beer flavor also includes cassava root fiber and apple juice concentrate as well as agave and stevia sweeteners.

The refreshed formulation is available now on Poppi’s website and is currently rolling out to stores across the country.
