2PM’s Ok Taec Yeon will star alongside Alice in Borderland’s Hayato Isomura in Netflix’s new LGBT Japanese drama Soul Mate. The 8-episode series will land on Netflix on May 14, 2026. Here’s everything we know about Soul Mate on Netflix.
Soul Mate is an upcoming Japanese Netflix Original romantic drama written and directed by Hashizume Shunki (More Than Words). Koichi Murakami is the producer, and ROBOT is the production company behind the series.

Announced in Netflix’s 2026 Japanese slate, Soul Mate has been confirmed for release on May 14, 2026.
What is the plot of Soul Mate?
Netflix has released a detailed synopsis for the series:
“After inadvertently destroying the life of his best friend, Ryu Narutaki abandons everything and leaves Japan. He nearly dies at a church in a foreign country before he is saved by a Korean boxer named Johan Hwang. Both men carry deep, unhealed wounds, and as their lonely souls gravitate toward one another, it soon becomes clear that they are soul mates. Drawn by fate, they decide to live together. Their journey takes them through Berlin, Seoul and Tokyo, where they experience a breadth of emotions: unforgettable pain, suffering and, ultimately, joy. Soul Mate is a tender romance between two young men, unfolding over the course of 10 years.”
Who are the cast members of Soul Mate?
Isomura Hayato plays Nautaki Ryu. The actor was recently seen in Alice in Borderland as Banda Sunato. He has also starred in Netflix and Viki’s Is Love Sustainable. Outside of Netflix, he has played lead roles in School Lawyer, Eniya Re:act, and Tokyo no Yukioto.

Ok Taec Yeon plays Hwang Jo Han. The actor has only starred in one Netflix series, as Jang Jun Woo in Vincenzo. He has held leading roles in K-dramas such as Heartbeat, Blind, Save Me, and Bring It On, Ghost. However, he is best known as a member of the K-pop group 2PM, where he served as the main rapper and sub-vocalist.
