An exciting new anime was just announced as part of Japan’s 2026 slate, Sparks of Tomorrow. The details are limited, but we can confirm the anime is coming to Netflix in July 2026 and will star Sora Amamiya and Yuuma Uchida.
Sparks of Tomorrow is an upcoming Japanese Netflix series directed by Minoru Ota and an adaptation of “20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku” by Hiro Yuki. The series is produced by Kyoto Animation.
When is Sparks of Tomorrow coming to Netflix?
Netflix has confirmed that Sparks of Tomorrow will be released sometime in July 2026.

What is the plot of Sparks of Tomorrow?
Netflix has provided a logline for the series:
“In an alternate version of the early 20th century where technological progress evolved along a different path shaped by steam power, Kyoto is blanketed in constant smoke. A boy, hardened by the loss of his brother, grows distrustful after their shared dream of an “Age of Electricity” is cut short. A deeply devout girl hides her dreams and regrets for her deceased mother deep within her heart. When the two cross paths, they set about exploring the secrets of the 20th Century Electrical Catalog, a glimpse into the future they long for. Together, they must confront their pasts and carve a path toward the future they once believed in.”
Who are the cast members of Sparks of Tomorrow?
Sora Amamiya plays Inako Momokawa. The actress is best known for starring in popular anime such as Akama ga Kill, The Seven Deadly Sins, Tokyo Ghoul, and KonoSuba.
Yuuma Uchida plays Kihachi Sakamoto. The actor is most well-known for starring in Fruits Basket, Banana Fish, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Grand Blue.
