Despite economic uncertainties, data from Allianz Partners USA shows that Americans are increasing their spending on Spring Break travel in 2025, with an average of $5,325 per trip, marking a nearly 14% increase from the previous year.
According to recent data from Allianz Partners USA, Americans are demonstrating resilience in their commitment to leisure travel, particularly during the Spring Break season, despite prevailing economic headwinds.
The company’s latest report on Top Spring Break Destinations indicates that travelers are spending an average of $5,325 on their trips this year, a notable increase of nearly 14% from 2024. This spike in expenditure demonstrates a sustained commitment to leisure travel, even in the face of economic uncertainties and other competing financial obligations.
Most Spring Break travelers opt to stay within the United States, with 79% of bookings made for domestic destinations, while international trips account for 21%. The company’s annual ranking of top destinations provides insights into where travelers are headed and how they are allocating their growing vacation budgets.
Daniel Durazo, the director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA, commented on the findings, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding travel plans given the current financial climate. “Even with rising costs, we continue to see Americans prioritizing leisure travel,” said Durazo. “A travel insurance policy ensures that if covered travel cancellations, interruptions, delays, and unexpected illnesses or injuries occur, your hard-earned dollars can be repurposed for another trip.”
Orlando remains the most popular domestic location for the second consecutive year. Other top domestic destinations include New York, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, Seattle, Dallas, and Atlanta. Internationally, Mexico is a major draw for Spring Break travelers, with Cancun, San José del Cabo, and Puerto Vallarta among the top ten destinations. Additional international favorites include London, Punta Cana, Paris, Nassau, Montego Bay, Ota (Tokyo), and Oranjestad.
The data for the report was gathered by analyzing over 8.7 million itineraries of customers going through the online booking process for airfare and packages that offer Allianz Global Assistance travel insurance. This included roundtrip flights departing from U.S. airports from February 21, 2025, to April 19, 2025. A separate data set was used to gather information on trip costs.
