Spruce up your fall wardrobe at these Vancouver thrift and consignment stores

27 September 20255 Mins Read

Fall is here, and now is a great time to see what cozy layers, leather jackets, and vintage pieces await at Vancouver’s many thrift and consignment stores. So after you downsize and stow away your summer tanks, it might be time to show your closet a little love. Here are some of the best places to thrift secondhand gems in Vancouver.

First up, we’ve got Mintage, a staple in the city for over 15 years. Here, you’ll find incredible pieces fit for every occasion, whether it’s a 1920s-themed party, a beach day, or some colourful flannels to spruce up your fall wardrobe. With its OG location on Commercial, newer Mintage Cafe on Robson, and Vancouver’s first-ever vintage collective, Mintage Mall in Mount Pleasant, there are plenty of racks to peruse with no shortage of finds.

Where: 1714 Commercial Dr., 1008 Robson St., and 245 East Broadway

This women-owned business offers a wide selection of luxury brand clothing and accessories on the racks, with a fair amount of the original tags still attached. The space is deceivingly small, as every article of clothing and accessory in there is hand-selected from hopeful donors. It’s a great spot to pop into and make a spontaneous purchase or two while perusing Main Street.

Where: 3728 Main St.

Houndstooth opened its doors in 2023 and might be one of the newest names in the thrift game on Main, but it’s already garnered a reputation for having bold, timeless styles, secondhand treasures, and local arts and crafts by creators who have chosen to consign with the boutique. In addition to extending the life of countless items and clothing, Houndstooth provides valuable job experience for university students and youth through government-funded programs, and even has a partnership with the Vancouver Community College (VCC) Fashion Program.

Where: 4166 Main St.

In addition to having great finds at great prices, Rummage has a cozy vibe that will make you want to get lost for an afternoon. Oh, and it’s open seven days a week, so you won’t ever be surprised by a “closed” sign here.

Note that they’re at their Arbutus Street location until Sunday, Sept. 28, after which point Rummage will move to 1854 West 4th St.

Where: 1854 West 4th St.

We love Community and their ever-changing inventory and affordable prices. With a range of men’s, women’s and unisex items to check out, you’ll almost forget that their main goal is helping out the PHS Community Services Society. And there are two adjacent locations to shop!

Where: 311 Carrall St. and 11 West Hastings St.

This tiny but mighty thrift shop has an eclectic mix of vintage and pre-loved finds. From rare graphic T-shirts and designer belts to rave-worthy crop tops and clubwear, Rewind has a little bit of everything.

Where: 2331 Main St.

There’s never been a better time to swing by F as in Frank, which is having a huge sale the weekend of Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28! Everything is 30 per cent off, and hundreds of items are priced at 50 per cent off. As a staple for vintage wear for what feels like forever, now is your chance to really take home some treasures.

Where: 2425 Main St. and 302 West Cordova St.

Known for having both contemporary and vintage finds, Hunter & Hare is another fantastic option if you just want to browse through some consignment treasures at a moderate price point or pick up a couple of accessories to adorn your fall wardrobe with.

Where: 225 Lonsdale Ave. and 227 Union St.

With vintage and secondhand finds, Thriftique has got a little bit of everything to offer. Cute fall boots? Check. Colourful layers? Double check. Fun accessories? You got it!

Where: 4411 Main St.

This spot is great for gifts for everyone in your life, whether they’re a fun trinket person, a jewelry lover, or in need of an aesthetic tote bag. The right-hand side of the shop is full of secondhand apparel from tons of brands.

Where: 3772 Main St.

This consignment store truly has all the pre-loved vintage wear and designer goods of your dreams and then some – and they accept Afterpay as a form of payment. So if you spot a pair of designer sunglasses or a statement piece that catches your eye, rest assured, you can split the payments and still rock something new.

Where: 207 West Hastings St., #1400

While Mine & Yours’ specialty is vintage and designer handbags and sunglasses, make no mistake that there is a ton to discover here. Their new spring collection pays homage to Marie Antoinette, so shoppers can expect to see plenty of flowy dresses, opulent accessories, pastel colours, and trending silhouettes this season.

Where: 1025 Howe St. and 2061 West 4th Ave.

Hey Jude has incredible vintage basics alongside modern designers to sift through on your next slow shopping day. They’ve got a focus on tonal looks and easy-to-wear designs, making it as easy as ever to find something that fits your style. A pro tip for here? They’ve got some of the best prices on vintage denim in the city, when it’s not sold out.

Where: 315 Abbott St.

Last but not least, we come to Turnabout, a luxury consignment store with several Vancouver locations. As they constantly receive donations, you’re likely to find something new here.

Where: Multiple locations

Happy treasure hunting!
