While Starbucks’ latest menu additions are giving some fans “cuteness overload,” some American customers are frustrated that the two new beverages are not available in the U.S.
The coffee chain first revealed its collaboration with Sanrio, the company behind Hello Kitty, earlier this month. The partnership is celebrating the 50-year anniversary of the lovable character with two Hello Kitty-inspired beverages.
The new Red Apple Frozen Tea was described in a Sept. 4 press release as involving Teavana Zen Clouds Oolong Tea and “sweet apple sauce with chunky bits,” while the Apple Pie Cream Frappuccino was described as “a velvety-smooth treat” made with a “chunky apple sauce base,” milk and “cream frappuccino syrup.”

Both drinks come topped with an edible red bow that looks just like the one Hello Kitty wears, according to a preview of the new menu items that food blogger Snackolator shared on Instagram on Friday, Sept. 20.

The beverages landed on menus in the Asia Pacific region on Sept. 10. They are currently available to Starbucks customers in Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam, though Starbucks noted in its press release that the beverages and other special Hello Kitty-inspired merchandise will only be available “while supplies last.”
“I need this is the US!! Please 😭❤️,” one disappointed Instagram user wrote in a comment on Snackolator’s preview.
“WHY CANT WE HAVE THIS HERE😭😭😭they look sooooo adorable and yummy and it would make me sooooo happy,” another Instagram user agreed as one admitted they “got happy for nothing.”
“I need this to come to the US like right now,” one person declared.
“We need this worldwide. PERMANENTLY ON THE MENU,” another fan insisted.
Overall, Starbucks customers seemed to agree that the new beverages look “so good.”
“I want an apple pie frappuccino 🥺,” one person commented as another said they “like sweet apple so this sounds amazing.”
