Today is the big day – Netflix is going live this evening with its highly anticipated Roast of Kevin Hart. Kevin lit the match… and now his feet are being held to the fire! We’ve noticed you’ve got many questions about the Epic Final Night of the Netflix Is A Joke Fest, and below, we’ve put together our big Q&A with everything you need to know.

Comedic rockstar and roast master himself, Kevin Hart, will be taking the hot seat in the main live event, with preliminary hype and an all-star dais led by:

• Shane Gillis – Superstar Comedian and Official Host for the Evening
• Jeff Ross – Roastmaster General and Executive Producer

Then, according to earlier reporting from The Insneider (who posted that Shane Gillis previewed some of his jokes earlier this week during the Netflix is a Joke festival), Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che and Kill Tony’s Tony Hinchcliffe will be amongst the roasters. Per Netflix in an email that went out today, “Nothing is off limits. Expect savage sets, surprise guests, and a lineup ready to go all in. This is one you’ll want to watch as it happens.”

Is The Event Free to Watch on Netflix?

Yep. So long as you have a Netflix subscription (whether on the ad tier or premium tier), you can tune in live to watch Kevin get torn apart.

What Audio Options Is Netflix Providing?

Per the official description, just an English-language stream will be provided. 

Will The Roast Stream on Netflix After It Finishes?

Yes. After the final punchline is delivered, Netflix will keep the stream up as a VOD. Netflix has perpetual streaming rights to the special, so you’ll be able to watch the roast whenever you like. They may edit some stuff out, however.

How Long Will The Event Last For?

According to Netflix, the event is expected to last around 3 hours, though given that live comedy and roasts can often run slightly off-script, it could run slightly shorter or longer depending on the laughter and applause breaks. 

What devices is the Live Roast available on, and Which Are Not?

According to the official Netflix help documents, almost all devices now support Netflix’s live-streaming capabilities, including: 

• Smart TVs
• Streaming media players
• Android phones and tablets
• iPhone and iPad
• Mac and Windows computers
• Game consoles

The only outliers still are Chromecast 1-3rd generations and essentially any casting methods.

How Big Will The Viewership Be?

If we look at the precedents set by Netflix’s previous foray into live roasting, the bar is incredibly high.

• The 2024 Roast of Tom Brady spent 3 weeks in the Global Top 10.
• It reached the Top 10 in 49 countries.
• It earned 19.2M views in its initial run.
• To date, the Tom Brady roast has earned over 26M total views.

Given Kevin Hart’s global comedic rockstar status, expect similar, if not bigger, numbers to tune in tonight.

What to Watch Before The Live Event

If you missed it, Netflix is still streaming the legendary 2024 The Roast of Tom Brady. It’s the perfect primer to get you in the roasting mood before Kevin’s feet are held to the fire tonight. Netflix also produced pre-recorded roasts with Jeff Ross in 2019 and 2024, with the former being the Historical Roasts released across six episodes and an end-of-year recap back in 2024.
