State of Play: All announcements, trailers, and release dates

5 June 20254 Mins Read

Sony kicked off the annual summer game fest (ahead of actual, Geoff Keighley-approved Summer Game Fest) on Wednesday with a new State of Play showcase. The 50-minute presentation was full of updates on PlayStation 5 games like Pragmata and Silent Hill f, as well as surprise game announcements, including a new Marvel fighting game from Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works, a new Lumines, and a new Nioh.

If you couldn’t watch June’s State of Play showcase live, here’s a recap of all the game announcements, release dates, trailers, and other highlights from Sony’s stream.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls

Arc System Works is making a Marvel fighting game, featuring Captain America, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Iron Man, Doctor Doom, and many more of Earth’s mightiest heroes. And it looks sick. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a 4v4 tag fighter coming to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026.

Final Fantasy Tactics returns

A new version of the strategy role-playing game classic returns as Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. A new enhanced version adds “fully voiced dialogue, an optimized and updated UI, graphical improvements, and a number of other quality of life features,” while the classic version “unites the graphics and gameplay of the original game with the renowned War of the Lions translation and includes convenient features such as auto save.”

Rez and Tetris Effect developer Enhance Games announced a new entry in the Lumines puzzle game series called Lumines Arise. Like Tetris Effect, it looks like a music and emotion-infused take on a classic puzzle game. Lumines Arise is coming to PS5 and PSVR 2 in fall 2025.

Capcom’s Pragmata (finally) coming in 2026

First revealed in 2020 alongside the PlayStation 5, Capcom’s long-delayed sci-fi action game Pragmata has come out of hiding… with a 2026 release window.

Team Ninja’s action series Nioh returns in early 2026 with Nioh 3. To ease the wait, a demo is available now for PS5.

Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection

Digital Eclipse is tackling the Mortal Kombat franchise for its next deep dive into gaming history. Expect an exhaustive collection of arcade, console, and handheld versions of early Mortal Kombat games, paired with behind-the-scenes and creator interviews. Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is out in 2025.

Konami and developer NeoBards gave PlayStation fans a terrifying new look at horror game Silent Hill f, which is out surprisingly soon — Sept. 25!

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Konami offered another look at its Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake, and teased a bit more about the extra content it’s bringing to Delta — which is out in August on PlayStation 5 and other platforms. It’s the summer of Konami!

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement

The Castlevania-like franchise Bloodstained is getting an all-new entry, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement. The new Bloodstained is a prequel to Ritual of the Night and “follows Leo and the fearless Black Wolves as they prepare to storm the cursed Ethereal Castle and confront the rising darkness.” It’s out in 2026.

Romeo is a Dead Man announced

Wacky, bloody, and action-packed, Romeo is a Dead Man has developer Grasshopper Manufacture written all over it. It’s coming to PS5 in 2026.

Sea of Remnants is a stylish new pirate-themed “F2P voyage-themed RPG.” Players will recruit crew, explore new routes, battle enemies in turn-based combat, build a unique island life, and carve the memory into the infinite tides, according to the developer.

Keeping things wet, Tides of Tomorrow is a colorful multiplayer story game set on Elynd, an oceanic planet, “where life is facing extinction from a deadly disease but all the players are the chosen ones to shape its destiny.”

Digimon Story Time Stranger gets a release date

The next installment in the Digimon Story series is coming to PS5 on Oct. 3. As an agent of a secret organization, adventure through the human world and Digital World, collecting and raising Digimon to fight in turn-based battles.

Project Defiant — it’s a fight stick!

PlayStation’s making its own fight stick, promising “precise in-game response with ultra-low latency wireless and wired play options, along with a durable, ergonomic design that’s built for battle.”

Hey! There’s a new Thief game! It’s called Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow. Therefore, it is a VR game. So…

We got a release date for stylish adventure Sword of the Sea: It’s out Aug. 19.

In other release date news, mountain-climbing adventure Cairn arrives Nov. 5. A demo is available now.

The 2D throwback based on Ninja Gaiden is out July 31.

Paper-folding action-adventure game Hirogami is coming to PS5 on Sept. 3.

Almost there… delightfully fun walking simulator (complimentary) Baby Steps arrives Sept. 8.
