In a moving tribute, General Hospital star Steve Burton reflected on his late friend and co-star Tristan Rogers, sharing the touching story of his final day on set.
Many daytime actors have paid tribute to the late Tristan Rogers, who passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, but Steve Burton’s tribute to him, detailing his final day on set, was especially poignant. It reflected the devotion Rogers had to General Hospital, where he played super spy hero Robert Scopio on and off for 45 years, and its fans. Burton worked with Rogers on General Hospital and The Young & the Restless.
Burton shared a behind-the-scenes picture of him and Rogers on set that last day, as well as a throw back picture of them at an event, and a promo picture of Rogers in his heyday as Scorpio.
He captioned the pictures, ” If you know General Hospital, you know Robert Scorpio. @tristanrogers7 The man. The legend. The OG. I’m truly honored that I had the chance to work alongside Tristan on his very last day at work. Not only that, I got to spend real time with him…just making sure he was taken care of. You could see he was going through it, but the strength he showed to still be there… it spoke volumes.
Most people in that situation might have said, “Stay home, take care of yourself.” But for Tristan, @generalhospital was his home. And there was no place he would rather have been. Even though he wasn’t feeling his best, he would joke around, still giving us a piece of who he was. That’s the mark of a true legend.
Tristan, thank you for everything you did. You paved the way for guys like me. Rest easy, my friend. Your light and laughter live on. 🙏🏻❤️”

Kimberly McCullough, who played Robert’s daughter Robin Scorpio, replied to the post with the comment, “He had the best laugh ❤️,” andFinola Hughes, who plays Robin’s mother Anna Devane, said, “Beautiful Steve xx.”
In a statement to Parade, General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini said, “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers’ passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.”
Tristan Rogers was 79 when he passed away from lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Teresa Parkerson, two children, and a grandchild.
