Public transit in Montreal is about to get more expensive.
On Wednesday, the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) announced a new fare schedule that takes effect July 1, 2025, with increases on several STM and regional transit passes — including monthly subscriptions and unlimited weekend options.
“This measure helps limit the financial impact on customers, while ensuring that we can continue to offer a reliable and efficient service,” said Benoît Gendron, Director General of ARTM, in a press release .
If you commute within Zone A (Montreal), a monthly pass will rise from $94 to $104.50, while the four-month subscription jumps from $233 to $240. However, single-ride fares on buses and metros will stay the same at $3.75 apiece.
Crossing between zones will also cost more. A monthly ABC pass — covering Montreal, Laval, Longueuil, and the surrounding suburbs — will go from $196 to $200.50.
Here’s a quick breakdown of new prices for regular fares in key zones:
Zone A (Montreal)
- 1 ride: $3.75
- 2 rides: $7.00
- 10 rides: $34.25
- Monthly pass: $104.50
Zones A & B (e.g. Montreal + Laval)
- 1 ride: $5.00
- Monthly pass: $164.50
Zones A, B & C (e.g. Montreal + Laval + South Shore)
- 1 ride: $7.00
- Monthly pass: $200.50
All zones (A to D)
- 1 ride: $9.50
- Monthly pass: $275.50
Special passes like the Unlimited Evening Pass ($6.50) and Unlimited Weekend Pass ($16.75) are still available. Kids under 11 ride free when accompanied by someone 14 or older. Seniors living in Montreal can continue riding free within Zone A, as long as they have a photo OPUS card.
