Beginning July 2025, Netflix in the United States will follow Canada’s footsteps in picking up the Canadian drama series Sullivan’s Crossing, which has a direct connection to one of Netflix’s longest-running shows: Virgin River. Here’s what you need to know about the show’s rollout on Netflix thus far, and more about the show.
The show’s addition to Netflix US comes soon after Netflix in Canada first licensed the show, which began on April 24, 2025, with the inclusion of both seasons 1 and 2. The show was strong on the daily charts (via FlixPatrol) right out of the games, going on to spend 24 days in the top 10s altogether and 2 weeks in the weekly charts for Canada.
Released on CTV in Canada before airing on The CW (and also streaming there) in the US, Sullivan’s Crossing is from showrunner Roma Roth. It is directly tied to Virgin River, given that the source material comes from Robyn Carr, the author of both novel series. The series is dubbed as a CTV Original with the third season having just recently began airing on the network. The series is generally well-regarded, with a 7.2/10 rating on IMDb at the time of publication.
Starring Morgan Kohan, Chad Michael Murray, Tom Jackson, Andrea Menard, and Scott Patterson, the show is thematically similar to Virgin River, focusing on a neurosurgeon named Maggie Sullivan who returns to her rural hometown in Nova Scotia to reconnect with her estranged father after finding herself. Of course, in Virgin River, we see Mel, a nurse by trade, setting up shop in a new rural hometown, with the series focusing on her dynamics with other residents of the picturesque town.
Unlike the Canadian addition, we don’t know exactly how many seasons will be joining Netflix US, although we obviously know it’ll be at least one, and more likely the first two. The addition to Netflix is not expected to impact the show’s availability on The CW.
It’s going to be a busy month for new licensed titles on Netflix. As we recently reported, Yellowjackets season 2 is set to arrive on Netflix US in July 2025, alongside one of the best shows of all time, Mr. Robot. You can find more information on upcoming Netflix releases throughout July 2025 here.
Speaking of Virgin River, filming is coming to an end on season 7 (with an eighth season highly likely) with an early 2026 release date expected for the series returning although there’s some murmurs that we could see the new season sneak in before the end of the year again – we’ll see what happens.
Multiple seasons of Sullivan’s Crossing arrive on Netflix on July 8th, 2025.
