We want to hear from teachers, families and child care providers about how you’re planning to manage the upcoming heat wave that could make classrooms, like this one at École Catholique Pape-François in Stouffville, Ont., sweltering.Nathan Denette/The Canadian Press

The countdown to summer vacation in Ontario will be blistering as Environment Canada forecasts temperatures topping 30 C across much of the province’s South and East, including Toronto and Ottawa, starting Sunday and into at least Tuesday.

The heat wave will also affect parts of Southern Quebec, and edge into Manitoba and New Brunswick.

We know school’s almost out, but hot weather can also impact schools in September, and we want to know how teachers, families and child care providers are preparing to manage right now.

What are the conditions like in your or your children’s classrooms? Do you have concerns about teaching or sending your child to school? Should heat waves be treated like snow days? And what do you think schools should do as climate change makes these extreme temperatures more frequent?

Globe and Mail health reporter Kristy Kirkup wants to hear your thoughts for an upcoming story about the impacts of the heat wave.

Share your thoughts in the form below or send us an e-mail at [email protected] with “Heat in Schools” in the subject line. Not all responses will be used in the story, but a Globe journalist may contact you for an interview or for more information.
