Venus Williams drops a heartfelt confession after a hard-fought match at the Cincinnati Open.
After returning to the court last month, the tennis icon suffered a devastating defeat, losing to Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro by a 6-4, 6-4 score in the first round of the tournament.
Although the matchup didn’t go her way, the seven-time Grand Slam champion was honored to be part of such a competitive match and expressed her deep gratitude to the fans who showed their support.
In an Instagram post, Williams, who sported an all white kit, shared the highlights from the tournament.
“Thank you @cincytennis for your unmatched energy and support,” she wrote.

In the comments section, followers and fans flooded her post with praise, encouragement and admiration for her resilience and grace on the court.
WTA’s official Instagram page commented with green heart and crown emojis, which is a subtle nod to respect for the queen of the court.
Moreover, fans are also hyping the 45-year-old for her enduring passion, with one calling her the “living legend.”
“Venus-the living legend!! Your fight for women’s health and all you have done for this sport that I love is phenomenal!!” one wrote.
“The EPITOME of a QUEEN,” another expressed a similar stance.
However, amid the sea of positive reactions to the tennis star, one comment stood out the most and came from the ‘90s rock band.
From one icon to another, American band Garbage commented with a raised hands emoji, a simple yet powerful gesture honoring Williams’ legacy.
Interestingly, the Olympic gold medalist posted a recent Instagram story, revealing how she’s “obsessed” with the “Stupid Girl” hitmaker.

“Obsessed with Garbage. I love you guys,” she wrote, tagging the band and sharing their track “Supervixen” as the background music.
Garbage’s lead singer, Shirley Manson, had a sweet encounter with the tennis legend and her sister Serena Williams in 2022.
In an Instagram post, she shared a photo with the iconic sisters after their performance in Florida.
Manson called the duo “legendary” and spoke about their “achievements in the sporting field.”
