The reimagined The Blair Witch Project is directed by Dylan Clark, who co-produced the feature film The Batman and the TV series The Penguin. Produced by Lionsgate and horror aficionados Blumhouse, details on the film are being kept scarce, but The Hollywood Reporter reports that Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams, who starred in the original 1999 hit, will serve as executive producers in conjunction with Sánchez, Myrick, and Gregg Hale.
More a reimagined version of The Blair Witch Project than a sequel, studio executives hope to reintroduce the terrifying film to a new generation of horror fans while reacquainting fans of the original with this latest interpretation.
