The Animals' 'When I Was Young' Revealed a Different Side of Eric Burdon

By the time The Animals released “When I Was Young” in 1967, Eric Burdon had already spent years performing in one of Britain’s best-known rock bands.

But the song that became one of The Animals’ most memorable later hits was deeply personal.
