On Friday afternoon, Canada kicked off its first match of the World Cup against Bosnia-Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium. The contest ended in a 1-1 draw, with Canada’s tying goal coming courtesy of striker Cyle Larin for an exciting start to the global sports tournament.

Amongst a sea of fans decked out in red and white (and some in blue), a number of supporters commanded attention with retro jerseys, DIY accessories and creative ensembles. Here are the best fan outfits spotted outside the stadium.

Axel the dog is wearing the classic Mountie Stetson hat to “bring the Canadian feeling.”

Kelly Kaur, who is “Toronto born and raised,” proudly sports a team jersey to the big game.

From head to toe, Torontonian Brad is decked out in red, white and sequins.

Best friends Jasmine Reyes and Rukhsar Achakzai planned their matching game day outfits together.

Jose Uexada paired his jersey with a very Canadian cowboy hat.

High school friends Chris and Christian browsed for matching outfits online and found a loud and proud set.

Andrew, John, Alex and Andrew paired their Team Canada jerseys with kilts.

For this duo’s outfits, Lori Coady was in charge of the hats, and Chris Lindstone found the shirts.

Originally from Bangladesh, Rahima Begum says she’s here to support Team Canada and dressed in red and white for the occasion.

Dressed entirely in red and white, Aziz Juma even did the bejewelling on the cap himself.
