The best ways to celebrate Mother’s Day in Calgary this year

2 May 20263 Mins Read

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re in Calgary and just realized you need to start figuring out plans, don’t worry, you’ve still got some time to figure it out.

Luckily, you don’t have to stick to the usual brunch reservation, and flowers come this year. Calgary has a ton of amazing events going on that feel a bit more thoughtful without being too stressful to plan.

So with that, let’s get into some of our favourite Mother’s Day events happening around Calgary this year.

If you’re looking to start Mother’s Day off on a more elevated note, afternoon tea at the Fairmont Palliser is a classic for a reason. It’s the full experience, with delicate finger sandwiches, fresh scones, and pastries, all paired with its signature teas or a glass of bubbles if you want to feel a little extra special.

When: Friday, May 8 to Sunday, May 10, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m.
Where: Hawthorn Lounge- 133 9th Ave. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $79 per person, $40 per child (12 and under)

This one’s for all the animal-loving moms out there! Puppy Yoga is an amazing way to get in your daily movement while soaking up all the puppy cuddles. The class itself is quite relaxed, and the puppies running around make it feel a lot more playful than your typical yoga session.

When: Sunday, May 10, 2026
Time: Sessions from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 117 17th Ave. NE #1, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $45

If you’re not trying to overthink your Mother’s Day plans but still want something cute and thoughtful, this is a really great option. Mother’s Day at The Confluence combines a picnic-style lunch with a guided walking tour and little things like crafts and scavenger hunts to keep things entertaining.

When: Sunday, May 10, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to noon or 1 to 3 p.m.
Where: The Confluence – 750 9th Ave. SE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $40

If your mom loves a good movie, this one is honestly a lot of fun. Mamma Mia! at The Grand turns into a full experience with a snack box, a mimosa, and all the ABBA energy you could need.

When: Sunday, May 10, 2026
Time: 1 to 2:45 p.m.
Where: The Grand – 608 1st St. SW, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: $30

Let your mom unleash her creative side at this Mother’s Day event. This guided paint class provides everything you need, from materials to step-by-step instructions, so you and your mom can focus on having fun and creating something you can take home at the end of the night.

When: Sunday, May 10, 2026
Time: 4 p.m.
Where: Palak Studio Ink- 12318 Barlow Tr. NE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Starting at $35

Mother’s Day does not have to be a big production to feel meaningful. Calgary has so many different ways to celebrate, from puppy yoga to relaxing afternoon tea and everything in between, so it’s pretty easy to find something that fits your vibe. In the end, it’s less about what you do and more about who you’re doing it with.
