'The Boys' Spinoff ‘Gen V' Adds 'Wicked' Star for Sophomore Year on Prime Video

18 August 20254 Mins Read

The events of The Boys Season 4 leave the country firmly under Homelander’s control. And life at Godolkin University changes too in the spinoff Gen V, starting with the arrival of a mysterious new dean. Cate (Maddie Phillips) and Sam (Asa Germann) are campus heroes, while Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (London Thor/Derek Luh) and Emma (Lizze Broadway) return to school still reeling from the trauma they survived in Season 1. While classes resume at God U, being a “normal” student isn’t an option when the group learns of a secret program tied to the founder of the school.

When is the release date for Gen V Season 2?

The second season of the Prime Video series premieres its first three episodes on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025. New episodes will then drop weekly.

Who will be in the cast of Gen V Season 2?

Gen V will feature many actors from Season 1 reprising their roles. However, there will also be a couple notable new faces.

Returning from Season 1 are:

Jaz Sinclair (Marie Moreau)

Lizze Broadway (Emma Meyer)

Maddie Phillips (Cate Dunlap)

London Thor and Derek Luh (Jordan Li)

Asa Germann (Sam Riordan)

Sean Patrick Thomas (Polarity)

The cast will be joined by new members Hamish Linklater as Dean Cipher, the new dean of Godolkin, as well as Wicked star Ethan Slate as Thomas Godolkin.

How will Gen V Season 2 handle Chance Perdomo’s death?

Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson, passed away in March 2024 following a motorcycle accident. Gen V producers confirmed in Variety that the character would not be recast stating, “We have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”

Will Patrick Schwarzenegger be in Gen V Season 2?

Before Patrick Schwarzengger rose to prominence with his Emmy-nominated role in The White Lotus Season 3, he was part of the main cast of Gen V in Season 1. Unfortunately, Schwarzenegger’s character died in the Season 1 premiere, serving as the inciting incident for much of the action. However, there’s a chance he may be able to appear in flashback episodes alongside his brother, Sam.

Will there be any characters from The Boys in Season 2 of Gen V?

Yes! The first season of Gen V was loaded with cameos from The Boys. The characters of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Homelander (Anthony Starr), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford), Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie), Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), Grace Mallory (Laila Robins), Adam Bourke (PJ Byrne) and Madelyn Stillwell (Elisabeth Shue) all showed up in some form or another in Season 1.

Although there are sure to be many other cameos from The Boys in the second season of Gen V, according to Variety, the crossover characters confirmed at San Diego Comic Con 2025 were Starlight (Erin Moriarty), The Deep and Black Noir.

How does Gen V fit into The Boys universe?

Gen V takes place concurrently with The Boys, and the two shows directly influence each other’s storylines. As an example, the virus developed at Godolkin to kill “supes” in Season 1 of Gen V becomes a key plot point in The Boys Season 4. In that sense, Gen V isn’t just a spinoff. It’s part of the larger continuity, with each series informing the other as the universe moves toward The Boys fifth and final season set to air in 2026.

How to watch Gen V Season 2

The series will be streaming on Prime Video. After the first three episodes drop on Wednesday, Sept. 17, new episodes will follow weekly, leading up to the season finale on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

How many episodes is in the second season of Gen V?

The second season consists of eight episodes.
