Even though The Early Spring aired its final episode weeks ago, the series is still building buzz on social media and viewers can’t get enough of Luke.Luan Nian (Jing Boran) and Flora/Shang Zhitao (Sun Qian). Some viewers got a lucky surprise when Youku released two bonus episodes offering a sort of epilogue to Luke and Flora’s storyline.

Are there really bonus episodes of The Early Spring?
Apparently, yes. Youku released two bonus episodes on their Youku China platform.
What are the bonus episodes of The Early Spring about?
There were two episodes. Both episodes were released on Sept. 19. Both episodes were around 60 minutes long. The additional episodes focused on Luke and Flora’s romance and the sweet and romantic moments throughout their relationship. It serves as an epilogue of sorts for viewers who wanted more of a resolution to the show’s finale.

What is the sequel to The Early Spring called?
The original series is actually called The Early Spring Clear. The sequal series has been referred to by names including The Midsummer Clear, A Sunny Summer, Midsummer Clarity, A Clear Midsummer Day, Clear Skies in Midsummer and so on. The series seems to be going through the seasons so potentially there could be four seasons of this series. Until we hear officially otherwise, we’ll be referring to the sequel as The Midsummer Clear.

An official logline has not been released by Youku, the studios and primary streamer of The Early Spring. We’ve seen unconfirmed posts on social media that the plot of The Midsummer Clear revolves around Luke and Flora’s life post-wedding, following the ups and downs of living together, growing together, getting to know each other’s habits and quirks.
We believe Season 2 will revolve around Lumi (Yezi Zhang) and Will’s (Chang Liu) relationship and subsequent courtship. There’s a sequel to the book The Early Spring is based on called Miss Talkative that follows Lumi and Will and it’s steamier than The Early Spring. We hope it’s their story this time around.

Who stars in The Midsummer Clear?
No official announcements have been made but apparently both Jing Boran and Sun Qian have signed on for the sequel. Whether they will play the main leads of the secondd series or supporting characters remains to be seen.

No official dates have been announced but production could and has been rumored to start as early as December 2026.

The Early Spring filmed primary in Beijing, China and Harbin, China. Season 2 is rumored to film in Jilin province and more specifically in the city of Changchun, Jilin.
