The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (July 7)

7 July 20263 Mins Read

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we can get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

Summer is in full swing, and the city is absolutely bursting with energy. Everything is opening, and events are being thrown left and right. I’m sure your group chat doesn’t want to be left in the dark.

Here’s everything you and your friends are going to want to know this week.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

Check out the sunset this season at the best spots in Alberta

‘Tis the season of the sun; summer is here, it’s hot, and it means long, long days. What it also means, however, is that it’s the perfect time to grab a friend’s truck and get a good look at the sky. This list has parks and lakes spanning across the province, so there’s no shortage of spots to watch a good sunset.

Whether you’re looking out over the Rockies, a gorgeous turquoise lake, or rolling prairie hills, you’ll find something magical just across the horizon.

While you’re out and about… check out these antique shops

While you’re on your trip to find the best view, you might want to check out some vintage and antique shops. Antique shops are spread out across the province, and there are more than a few to find treasures in. Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up some of the best ones around.

Some of these places have over 120 vendors, if you can even believe that! All of them, though, are definitely worth the stop.

Wanting to stay in the city? Discover the festivals going on this summer

Summer festivals are the best part about being in Edmonton, and there’s a reason we have been named “festival city” all these years.

There is an endless number of festivals that reign over the summer season in Edmonton. Whether you’re looking for music, art, comedy, or something entirely different, you won’t have trouble finding an event that’s right up your alley. If you send this list to your group chat, there’s definitely going to be some follow-up plans made.

Or maybe it’s time for a mall trip to see all the new stores

Still looking to stay in the city? I totally get it, gas isn’t cheap, and sometimes the long car ride just isn’t worth it.

West Edmonton Mall is just as exciting as a day-trip, though. You can honestly get lost in there, and with new stores opening up every month, there’s always going to be more to discover. This includes upcoming stores like Alberta Boot Outfitters and Unique Bunny, both of which I’ll definitely be checking out.

And the weather is still looking like a mixed bag

Thursday and Saturday show a 60 per cent chance of showers, along with a potential thunderstorm tomorrow (Wednesday). It’s a little bit all over the place. I’m not sure if your outdoor plans will be getting a lot of sun, but that just means it’s the perfect reason to escape to other parts of the province.

Let’s hope the weather clears up at some point this summer.
