The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (June 9)

9 June 20264 Mins Read

Welcome to Edmonton’s group chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we can get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues. If your friends are talking about it, you’re going to find everything you need to know right in this article.

It can officially be called summer in the big city. The weather has been… a little bit more wishy washy than prior years, but it’s getting hotter and hotter. Not to mention, everything is opening back up for the season, meaning there are more things to do in Edmonton.

Your group chat is definitely looking for the best, and so are we. So, here are some of the biggest and best details about everything happening this week.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

On the topic of openings… who’s ready to ride Pembina River’s wave?

If you aren’t familiar with the Pembina River, where have you been? The tubing aspect of it all has been around since 2007, and recently it’s been taken over by new ownership dedicated to bringing the river back to its prime tubing state. Looking for the most relaxing river float? Well, you truly won’t find one better in Alberta.

Ask any Edmontonian, and they’ve at least heard of it, if they haven’t been three times before.

Keep the excitement going with another tubing experience

Instead of on water, you can take your tubing experience on land instead!

Western Canada’s longest summer tube slide is hidden in Red Deer at Canyon Ski Resort. With two tubing lanes spanning across 453 feet, this summer slide is an activity that everyone in the family can enjoy. If you’re over the age of four, which I’m sure you are, you’ll be able to hop on a tube and get sliding this summer.

Or maybe you’re looking for your summer of rest and relaxation

Not feeling the high-energy activities? That’s all good, and that’s exactly where Elemental Recovery and Spa comes into play. Elemental is Edmonton’s newest relaxation destination for hydrotherapy, massage and contrast therapy.

It is nothing short of luxurious, and I personally can’t wait to visit.

According to its website, there are several types of sessions offered: hydrotherapy, massage therapy, and facials. However, the main thing this particular spa is known for is the luxurious hydrotherapy circuit.

Might as well stay indoors with the incoming forecast

If I’m being honest, this upcoming weather might not be doing us any favours. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

There’s a chance of thundershowers tomorrow (Wednesday, June 10), with a high of 18°C. The low won’t be too bad, only 10°C that night. Saturday and onward, we can expect better, with a high of 25°C on Monday.

But it’s also the perfect chance to check out some new eats

That’s where Stationed comes into play.

Edmonton’s Station Park is introducing a rotating residency at its food hall, including a lineup change with every series. There will be one theme at a time for a limited run, and before you can miss it, they’ll be onto the next.

Its first series will be Japanese. In it, they include epic restaurants like Dorinku, Menya Mori, and more excellent names. This is the perfect chance to eat from some of the best Japanese spots in the city, so don’t miss it while the train is in the Station.
