The Edmonton Group Chat: What your friends are talking about this week (May 26)

26 May 20263 Mins Read

Welcome to the Edmonton Group Chat, your weekly roundup of what’s trending, what’s new, and what’s actually worth talking about. Here, we get the hottest events and news right to your phone and group chat without any issues.

This week, we’re getting ready to head into June. You know what this means? The group chat is going to be absolutely slammed with making plans, coordinating work days, and finding out what the best plans are for the month. It’s definitely going to be a big one, so you’d better get things sorted with your crew.

If you’re ready to hear all the news from this week and to jump into the next one, let’s get going.

What’s trending, Edmonton?

The Museum of Illusions has officially opened in West Edmonton Mall

This is a must-see with the group chat. You’ll have the best time, spending over an hour shifting your perspective one way and then the other in this visual, sensory, and educational experience.

While this experience takes you through the science of optical illusions, you’ll also get to be a part of it — front and centre. It opened in 2015, and it’s finally made its way to Edmonton after over 10 years of success.

Calling all cowboys! A new boot outfitter is coming to town

West Edmonton Mall is on a roll; there’s also a new cowboy boot store coming to the mall.

Alberta Book Co. was established in Calgary in 1978, and now, it’s making its way to Edmonton. It’s perfect timing, honestly, because rodeo season is coming into full swing soon. So, if you don’t have boots already, this is definitely a place to stop by.

Edmonton’s weather this week is a prime example of its wishy-washy nature

With a chance of thunderstorms and rain showers over the next two days, there is light at the end of the tunnel. There’s no need to cancel plans with friends this week; we will persevere.

We can expect some sunny days, with a high of 29°C and 30°C on Thursday and Friday, respectively, so this will be the best time to get outdoors. Grab a couple of friends, and hit the lake, go to the park, or just soak up the sun.

Speaking of getting outdoors, the City of Edmonton is offering forest bathing sessions for free

If you aren’t familiar with forest bathing, it’s also known as forest therapy or shinrin-yoku. It’s the practice of spending time in a forest or natural area to enhance well-being. These forest bathing sessions will be held at various parks across the city, allowing you to engage with your senses and connect with the unique features of our urban forests.

This is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature, all thanks to the City. This one might be better on your own, but the group chat will thank you for this rejuvenating experience.

And don’t forget… Pride Month is just around the corner

Ready to grab your friends and celebrate for the whole month? Oh, wait, you forgot to make plans?

Don’t worry, we’ve rounded up a whole bunch of Pride events in the Edmonton area for you to participate in. Whether it’s a block party or an indoor market, these events will definitely show you and your friends what Pride is all about.
