The Famous Lake Como Villa From James Bond Is on the Market – and It’s Surprisingly Affordable, Canada Reviews

3 August 20263 Mins Read

Europe is full of some iconic filming locations – Skopelos was the backdrop for much of Mamma Mia!, London’s leafy Notting Hill was the setting for (shockingly) Notting Hill, and Vienna was where Jesse and Céline spent the night wandering the streets and falling in love in Before Sunrise.

But for all the James Bond fans out there, one of the most iconic destinations from the Daniel Craig era is actually available to purchase. Well, sort of.

Cast your minds back to that scene at the end of Casino Royale, where Bond hunts down and slickly ambushes ‘Mr White’, and the glistening waters of Lake Como lapping at the shores of a gorgeous and rustic villa likely spring to mind.

The property in question is called Villa La Gaeta, and a renovated apartment (which underwent a facelift in 2023) inside the stunning, Neo-Mediaeval building has just gone up for sale through Sotheby’s.

It’s a south-facing space (meaning it’s flooded with that beaming Italian sunlight) and of the five apartments inside, the one on offer sits on the ground floor and is arranged over two levels. The living area overlooks a terrace, and along with the kitchen, a double bedroom and bathroom, makes up the first floor, and beneath that is another bedroom with an en-suite plus a spare room, as well as access to the marina basin.

Also included are two parking spaces, and excitingly, a jetty with designated boat mooring for each apartment. Oh, and those splendid, movie-worthy views. All that could be yours for roughly €1.2-1.4 million – honestly, not bad for such an iconic spot. Below are some snaps of the villa’s exterior.

Rather glamorous, eh? You can peruse the official listing (as well as some more photos) on Sotheby’s website. Oh, and check out our list of the top spots to visit in Italy.

Did you see that this popular Lake Como town has banned bare chests and swimwear in its streets?
