The YMCA in Mississauga is relocating, and the new facility sounds pretty amazing.
According to the organization, “The Mississauga YMCA will be moving to a new modern space at Square One Shopping Centre, opening in early 2027 as part of the visionary new mixed-use neighbourhood, Square One District.”
As the new location is being built, the YMCA says members and participants can continue to use the existing Mississauga YMCA at 325 Burnhamthorpe Road.
The new spot will include health and fitness programming, child care, and day camp programming for Mississauga residents.
“The community has been eagerly awaiting this news, and we think finding a location this close to our current Mississauga YMCA in the heart of downtown is the best possible scenario,” says Lesley Davidson, President & CEO of YMCA of Greater Toronto.
“With our wide range of programming for people of all ages, we’re designing the new space to encourage social connection and engagement. We know the centre will remain a home away from home for members and participants.”
The Square One District continues to expand with the addition of the new YMCA, as the area is known as one of the largest mixed-use downtown developments in Canadian history.
“Square One District is a visionary 18 million square foot neighbourhood of the future where business, life, and leisure in Mississauga come together as one. Once complete, the neighbourhood will be home to more than 35,000 residents, served by 18,000 residential units, a transit mobility hub connected to the Hurontario LRT, community buildings, parks, green spaces, and forward-thinking office space,” shares Square One District.
It may be a while before we can check it out, but we’ll be looking forward to it.
