The July Canada Child Benefit is coming and some parents are getting more cash than before

7 July 20253 Mins Read

Raising kids in Quebec isn’t cheap. And with inflation still a factor, a little extra support can go a long way. Luckily, the next Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payment is coming soon, and this month’s cheque could look a little different than usual.

That’s because July is when the government updates your CCB amount based on your 2024 income — and new indexed rates are now in effect for the next 12 months.

Here’s everything to know about the July 2025 CCB, from how much you could get to when it could be landing in your account.

What is the Canada Child Benefit?

The CCB is a monthly, non-taxable payment from the federal government to help families with the cost of raising children under 18. It’s meant to help with basics like food, clothing, and school supplies.

To qualify, you must:

  • Live with and be the primary caregiver for a child under 18
  • Be a Canadian resident for tax purposes
  • Have filed your (and your partner’s) 2024 tax returns

If you share custody, the benefit is usually split evenly between parents.

More about CCB payments

How much can you get in July 2025?

The new indexed CCB rates for the July 2025 to June 2026 period are:

  • $666.41/month per child under 6
  • $562.33/month per child aged 6 to 17

That’s up from $648.91 and $547.50 in June 2025, an increase of about $17 to $19 per child, depending on age. The adjustment reflects inflation and applies to all payments going forward.

To receive the maximum amount, your adjusted family net income (AFNI) must be under $37,487. If your income is higher, you may still qualify for a partial benefit.

You can get a personalized estimate using the CRA’s Child and Family Benefits Calculator.

When is the next payment?

The July 2025 CCB payment will be issued on Thursday, July 18.

Here are the remaining 2025 payment dates:

  • August 20
  • September 19
  • October 20
  • November 20
  • December 12

If you’re enrolled in direct deposit, it should land in your account on that date. Mailed cheques may take a few extra days.

How to apply for the CCB

If you’re not receiving the CCB yet, you can apply:

  • Online via CRA My Account
  • When registering your child’s birth
  • By submitting Form RC66 to the CRA

Once you’re signed up, you don’t need to reapply each year — just file your taxes to keep getting payments.

And remember: the CCB is completely tax-free, so every dollar goes into your pocket.
