The largest outdoor Shakespeare play in Canada will be in Toronto this month

8 July 20252 Mins Read

Canada’s largest and longest-running outdoor Shakespeare production is back in Toronto this summer, and tickets are on sale. Dream in High Park is now in its 42nd year, and here’s what to know about the beloved event.

Dream in High Park

What is it?

Dream in High Park is a Canadian Stage production, hosting Shakespearean productions in the stunning High Park Amphitheatre. It’s a gorgeous outdoor amphitheatre surrounded by mature trees that seats 850 people. It’s been a fan favourite since 1983, and according to organizers, for many, the Dream was their first experience with live theatre.

It kicks off July 13, 2025, and runs until August 31, 2025, Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 7 p.m.

What is this year’s presentation?

This summer, the team is showcasing Romeo & Juliet, one of the most loved Shakespeare plays. It will the the sixth time this specific play has been done in High Park.

What should I bring?

Considering it is in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere, guests are encouraged to bring a picnic, blankets, and pillows to enjoy the show.

Tickets are on sale and are priced at $29 plus HST. Rush tickets are available online at noon the day of the performance, or at the gate beginning two hours before each performance. These are also offered at pay-what-you-wish pricing, but organizers suggest a minimum of $20 to support the production.

Don’t miss out on this whimsical event.
