Micky Dolenz, best known as the energetic drummer and vocalist for the iconic 1960s band The Monkees, is celebrating his 81st birthday today. Decades after the group first captured fans with their chart-topping hits and hit TV series, Dolenz remains a beloved figure in pop culture—and recent photos show the legendary performer still looking remarkably vibrant.
On Friday, March 6, Dolenz shared a bit of an update about his upcoming appearance at Abbey Road.

“I’m heading to Abbey Road on the River in Jeffersonville, Indiana on Sunday, May 24 for Micky Dolenz Celebrates 60 Years of the Monkees,” Dolenz captioned an Instagram post. “We’ll take the story back to the beginning and move through it the way it happened. The songs, the show, the whole ride. Come spend the evening with me. Jeffersonville, I’ll see you May 24.”
The tour has been extremely popular, often selling out venues. In February 2026, Dolenz announced that even more tour dates have been added to his schedule.
“Apparently no one told me that celebrating 60 years of The Monkees meant I’d have to keep adding more cities…but here we are,” he captioned an Instagram post on Feb. 18.
Dolenz, who is still very recognizable despite his age, is still performing on tour. In fact, he has more than a dozen upcoming shows on his current tour, “60 Years of the Monkees.” Not only is he still performing some of the most iconic songs from his time with the ’60s band, but he also does meet and greets in various cities.
