The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Madrid, has been unveiled following an extensive two-year restoration and refurbishment. Formerly known as The Westin Palace, Madrid, this hotel is part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of over 30 hotel brands.
Located in the heart of Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras, the hotel is surrounded by renowned cultural institutions, including the Prado and Thyssen Bornemisza Museums, Retiro Park and Plaza Mayor. Its prime location places it at the center of Madrid’s artistic and cultural legacy.
“The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid, significantly adds to our global portfolio in one of Europe’s most culturally rich cities,” said Bruce Rohr, Vice President and Global Brand Leader, The Luxury Collection. “The hotel invites our global guests to immerse themselves in the city’s distinguished artistic heritage and vibrant spirit.”
The hotel’s restoration has revived its original 1912 grandeur. This process uncovered intricate floral ornaments and garlands that had been hidden for decades. The project also saw the restoration of the hotel’s iconic stained-glass and iron dome, designed in 1912 by Eduardo Ferrés i Puig and executed by master glaziers Maumejean. This monumental structure, composed of 1,875 glass panes, has regained its magnificence through a meticulous process involving over 100 specialists.
The redesigned interiors at The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid, perfectly blend classic luxury with contemporary design. The redesign of the 470 guestrooms and suites honors the timeless elegance and vibrant spirit of both historic and contemporary Madrid. Each room creates a distinguished residential ambiance with thoughtfully chosen elements, including marble fireplaces, Mid-Century style chandeliers, and luxurious fabrics.
La Cúpula, the gastronomic heart of The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid, is a vibrant all-day restaurant and cocktail bar. The menu combines the hotel’s deep-rooted culinary traditions with a modern approach to classic recipes. The hotel’s past guests inspire standout dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.
In addition to its impressive restoration, the hotel offers immersive cultural experiences for its guests. The hotel’s signature concierge team leads an enchanting tour of the Las Letras neighborhood, Madrid’s historic Literary Quarter. For art lovers, the hotel offers an exclusive, private early-morning tour of the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.
“The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, has been significant in Madrid’s cultural tapestry for more than one hundred years,” said Helen Leighton, Vice President, Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, Marriott International. “Joining The Luxury Collection has allowed the team to truly embrace the building’s eclectic history, portrayed throughout the meticulous restoration. The unique charm of The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid will be loved by locals and travelers alike…”
