Trina White was recognized with The IMPACT Award at the 2026 IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism Summit. The award acknowledges individuals and organizations for their commitment to advancing green business operations and fostering positive tourism development. White’s recognition highlights her career in sustainability practices at The Parkside Hotel & Spa.
Since 2009, White has led The Parkside Hotel & Spa’s sustainability initiatives. The hotel has achieved a 92% waste diversion rate and earned Biosphere Certification in 2022. It became Beyond Green’s first urban hotel worldwide. The Parkside Hotel & Spa is a signatory to the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, aligning its operations with global climate science and committing to reducing emissions and achieving Net Zero before 2050.
The hotel participates in a partnership with Veritree, Coastal Kelp, and the Sechelt First Nations to restore kelp forests in British Columbia. For every stay, the hotel plants one kelp, and for guests who opt out of housekeeping, ten kelp are planted. In 2025, The Parkside Hotel & Spa expanded the Happy Trails map series in partnership with Sierra Club BC to create a new map highlighting local ecosystems, providing guests with walkable, bikeable, and day-trip options to explore the region.
White’s activities extend beyond her role at The Parkside Hotel & Spa. In 2018, she co-created a green committee within the Hotel Association of Greater Victoria. She currently co-chairs the Destination Greater Victoria Sustainability Committee. White also serves as an associate professor at Royal Roads University, teaching sustainability theory. In 2023, she was named Hotelier of the Year by The BC Hotel Association.
The IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism Summit and its awards recognize efforts in sustainable tourism and environmental stewardship. White’s award was presented during the 2026 event.
